ALEXANDRIA – The Alexandria fire Department responded to a report of smoke coming from a garage at Ferguson Brothers Excavating on County Road 82 just before noon on Friday, Jan. 21.
Quick thinking employees used fire extinguishers and had the fire pretty much out when firefighters arrived minutes later, according to Fire Chief Jeff Karrow.
Karrow believes the fire started in a garage door opener and got into the attic area.
No one was injured and there was only minimal damage, the chief said.
