Alexandria driver injured in I-94 crash

His vehicle spun out and hit the Sauk River bridge barricade, according to the State Patrol.

An Alexandria man was injured in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 94 near Melrose Wednesday, Dec. 23 at about 11:45 a.m.

Harlan Leroy Walberg, 76, was driving a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis east on the freeway near mile marker 137 in Stearns County when the vehicle spun out and hit the Sauk River bridge barricade, according to the State Patrol.

The roads were covered with snow and ice at the time of the crash.

Walberg, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported to the Melrose hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol.

Other agencies that responded were the Melrose Police Department, Melrose Fire and Rescue, Melrose Ambulance and the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
