A passenger in a single-vehicle crash on Thanksgiving Day in Carlos Township was seriously injured and flown to a hospital in St. Cloud.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, a full-sized pickup was going west on County Road 5 NE when it left the road, struck the embankment of Miltona Bay Road NE, and became airborne before coming to rest on its side. The crash occurred just before 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 28.

The vehicle was driven by Isaac Roers, 20, of Brandon. He was uninjured in the crash, and was able to exit the vehicle along with passenger Gavin Swenson, 20, of Alexandria. Swenson was taken by North Ambulance to Alomere Health in Alexandria with non-life-threatening injuries.

A second passenger, Bailey Wessale, 18, of Alexandria, was partially ejected from the vehicle and required extrication by the Carlos Fire Department. Wessale was flown by North Aircare to Centracare St. Cloud Hospital with serious injuries..

Wessale and Swenson were not wearing seatbelts, the sheriff's office said, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
