A second arrest has been made in connection with a Saturday shooting in Alexandria, and police have released the identify of the man who was shot..

Jacob McCoy, 25, of Alexandria, is now in custody along with Zachary Gordon, 29, of Alexandria, who was apprehended Monday afternoon. Both are believed to have been involved in the incident, authorities said.

Michael Wells, 35, of Alexandria, who was shot, was taken to Alomere Health Dec. 8 and then later transported to another health facility, according to police. He continues to be treated for his injuries from the shooting.

The shooting was reported Dec. 8 at 9:46 p.m., with a caller saying that a male had been shot on the 400 block of Elm Street.

Wells' identity had not been released until Tuesday night, with police saying until then that his name was being withheld in the interest of safety.

"As it relates to this incident, we have no information that would lead us to believe there being any threat to the public," police said in a statement Tuesday.

The Alexandria Police Department continues to investigate the incident, and has been assisted by the West Central Minnesota Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, Central Minnesota VOTF, sheriff's offices from Douglas, Todd and Pope counties, Minnesota State Patrol, Glenwood Police Department and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
