Two injured in motorcycle crash

Two motorcycle drivers were taken to the hospital Saturday after one of them struck a deer near Lake Christina in northwest Douglas County.

A little after 3 p.m., Lucas Otterstetter, 39, of Elbow Lake and Andrew Hoernemann, 22, of Brandon were driving south on their motorcycles on County Road 1 north of County Road 52 when Otterstetter struck a deer that ran out in front of him, according to the sheriff's office.

Hoernemann, who was following behind him, locked up his brakes and put his motorcycle on its side.

Neither driver was wearing a helmet, according to the sheriff's office.

Otterstetter was transported by North Ambulance and Hoernemann was transported by Ashby

Ambulance to Alomere Health in Alexandria.

Both were treated for their injuries and later released.

Assisting the sheriff's office were Evansville First Responders, Ashby Ambulance and North Ambulance.
