U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar’s “Minnesota Morning” coffee gatherings with constituents featured breakfast pastries from Roers Family Bakery in Alexandria this week.

Klobuchar has visited dozens of Minnesota communities in recent months and, after tasting favorite local foods, she decided to showcase these Minnesota specialties at her weekly Thursday-morning coffee gatherings in her Washington, D.C. office.

“Roers Family Bakery offers a place for the community to come together,” Klobuchar said.“It is a great example of a local, family-owned business that helps boost our economy. I was delighted to serve its treats for my guests here in Washington.”

Roers Family Bakery, owned by Rory and June Roers, has been supplying Alexandria with baked goods since 1936. It is known for its made-from-scratch doughnuts, pastries, English muffin bread, and lefse.

Klobuchar hosts “Minnesota Morning” every Thursday when the Senate is in session and invites all Minnesotans who are visiting the capital. Visitors can hear first-hand accounts of Klobuchar’s work in the Senate, mingle with fellow Minnesotans visiting Washington, meet the senator’s staff, and take photographs with the senator.
