An 18-year-old Osakis man was injured in a one-vehicle crash Saturday, May 22, around 11 a.m.
Brently Boogaard, who was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, was traveling north on Bird Lake Road NE where the road made a 90-degree curve to the east. According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Boogaard stated he hit loose gravel, which hindered him from negotiating the curve.
His vehicle went off the road west of the address of 13980 Bird Lake Road NE, rolled and ended up in a field north of the road. The vehicle, which sustained extensive damage and is a total loss, came to rest on its wheels, according to the sheriff's office.
Boogaard, who was wearing his seatbelt, was able to get himself out of the vehicle and only suffered minor injuries. According to the sheriff's office, Boogaard's seatbelt prevented him from receiving serious injuries.

However, driver speed for the conditions of the road may have been a factor in the crash, according to the sheriff's office. No charges are pending.
