Minnewaska girls take New London-Spicer tri

The Minnewaska cross country programs were at the New London-Spicer triangular on Sept. 17 where the Lakers took third in the boys race with 59 points and first in the girls race with 21.

The Minnewaska girls got a 1-2-3 finish as Kiearra Wilmes won the 5K varsity race in 20:41.16. Olivia Danielson was right behind her in second place (20:59.92) and Lauren Ankeny was third (21:19.66).

Sydney Hagen added a sixth-place finish (21:42.32) and Sydnie Chevalier was ninth (22:18.64) to round out the team scoring. Elsey Hagen (10th, 22:32.60), Ava Chevalier (12th, 22:38.88) and Emma Kovarik (13th, 23:08.01) also ran varsity.

Freshman Maeson Tank continued his strong season for the Minnewaska boys as he paced the Lakers by taking third overall in 18:38.22. Ty Bisek of New London-Spicer won the race in 17:23.23 and Andrew Joedemann of Litchfield was second in 18:24.42.

Nick Ankeny was Minnewaska’s second runner in eighth place overall with a time of 19:03.18. Logan Maanum was 11th (19:11.20), Aiden Maanum was 20th (20:03.79) and Zach Palmer was 21st (20:12.62) to finish off the team scoring. Jace Kovarik (22nd, 20:22.86), Noah Danielson (23rd, 20:36.46) and James Ward (24th, 21:40.47) also ran varsity.
