HENNING — The local Sons of Norway chapter will hold its annual Vinterfest from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Henning Community Center.

Held since 2014, the event features ice skating and sledding and is open to all ages. Skates and sleds will be provided for those who don't bring their own.

Snacks and warm drinks will be provided in the Community Center, along with games and quiet activities. Attendees can make s'mores by the skating rink.

Parents may register children at the Community Center, which is on Second Street near the water tower. In case of a weather cancellation, the date will be Feb. 25.

The organization also holds monthly programs, with the next dates set for 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 16 at the Vining Community Center. At 11 a.m. Sunday, May 21, a dinner at Folden Lutheran Church in rural Vining will celebrate Norway’s signing of its Constitution. In June, it celebrates the summer solstice from 3:30-7 p.m. Thursday, June 22, with a potluck dinner, games, a parade of Nordic flags, music and dancing around the Midsummer Pole.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
