ALEXANDRIA — True crime author and forensic psychologist Frank F. Weber will speak in Alexandria about writing true crime, forensic work, and his latest book, "Black and Blue."

"Black and Blue" is based on the murder of a police officer's 19-year-old fiancé in Minneapolis. Weber will speak about the circumstances that led to this book. He will also demonstrate a lie detector test.

Weber will speak at the Douglas County Library from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23. He will also be at the library from 5-8 p.m. to answer questions about his work, to sign and sell his books, and to discuss the latest forensic tools.

Weber says that he performs psychological assessments in homicide, sexual assault and domestic abuse cases. He has profiled cold case homicides for the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and narrated an investigative show on the Oxygen channel.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
