As the Alexandria Senior Center will remain closed at least until Oct. 1, its in-person AARP tax assistance will not be available for the rest of this tax season, it announced.
However, AARP has set up tax assistance online to help in two ways, the center said. The online service can connect you with a volunteer or with software to prepare and file your own tax returns, at no cost.
Taxpayers will be able to complete an online form asking for help, via phone or computer screen-sharing, as you complete your own return.
Because of the pandemic the IRS delayed the tax filing deadline to Wednesday, July 15.
