Master gardeners to field questions

New this year at the Douglas County Fair, open class produce and floriculture will fill the Johnson building. Come see the exhibits and visit with master gardeners to answer all your garden questions.

There will be demonstrations on the new stage and fun activities for both adults and children. These will include:

Thursday, Aug. 16

11 a.m. Summer Squash: It's not just Zucchini

2 p.m. Floral Demonstration - transitioning summer container to fall

4 p.m. Pickling and fermenting demonstration

6 p.m. Planting fall bulbs

Friday, Aug. 17

11 a.m. Cole crops

1-3 p.m. Seed art with master gardeners

2 p.m. Blueberries demonstration

4 p.m. Bees demonstration

6 p.m. Pollinator gardening

Saturday, Aug. 18

10 a.m. Floral demonstration

11 a.m. Floral arrangement competition (Bring scissors or a knife.)

2 p.m. Tomatoes for salsa demonstration

3-5 p.m. Seed art with master gardeners

4 p.m. Cake decoration demonstration

4 p.m. Growing raspberries demonstration

6 p.m. Kids cake decorating demonstration

Sunday, Aug. 19

Noon Overwintering tropicals and succulents

2 p.m. Wine making demonstration

Master gardeners will be available to answer gardening questions from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Aug. 16-18, and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19.
