Music and food for pastor's 25th

Cornerstone Church will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its lead pastor, Darryl Knappen, on Sunday, Oct. 13, from 3-6 p.m.

The Good Company Band will play from 3-4 p.m., followed by a presentation from 4:15-4:45 p.m., and food and fellowship from 4:45-6 p.m. Cornerstone Church is at 202 7th Ave. E. in Alexandria.

He graduated from Western Conservative Baptist Seminary in Portland, Oregon. He and wife Pati Knappen have five grandchildren. Anyone who is interested is welcome.

Annual turkey supper in Villard

Villard United Methodist Church will serve its annual turkey supper on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 4:30-7 p.m. The menu also includes mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, coleslaw, cranberries, pickles, bread and butter, desserts and beverages. Take-outs are available.

MN Adult & Teen Challenge holds annual gala

Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge will hold its annual fundraising gala on Thursday, Oct. 24, and reservations are due by Friday, Oct. 18.

The evening will include a silent auction and registration at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m., and a concert at 7:30 p.m. featuring the organization's choir. The mission of Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge is to help clients become free from addiction. Its choir is made up of clients going through the long-term recovery program. Each member has his own story about addiction and transformation.

"Most never thought they would be part of a choir, but today they are gaining courage and healing through song," the organization says.

A table of eight costs $320; and individual ticket costs $40, and the concert only is free.

Actor brings biblical figures to life

The Church of St. Mary in Alexandria will present a Bible-based theatrical drama by evangelist, educator and actor Mark Price.

Price will portray biblical characters in modern times. The presentation begins Saturday, Oct. 19 and Sunday, Oct. 20, with reflections by Price, and Mass times at 5 p.m. Saturday and 8 and 10 a.m. Sunday. On Sunday, a light supper in the Great Hall at 5 p.m. will be followed by Price's portrayal of Judas Iscariot titled, "Villain or Saint," from 6:30-8 p.m.

Price will continue the series on Monday, Oct. 21, with a portrayal of Simon Peter, a fisherman, apostle and pope, from 6:30-8 p.m.

On Tuesday, Oct. 22, a presentation called "Believe and Achieve" is scheduled for 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Great Hall. Attendees should bring their own lunch, and beverages and dessert will be provided. From 6:30-8 p.m., Price will portray St. Paul, "Persecutor to Preacher."

The series concludes Wednesday, Oct. 23, with a portrayal of St. Francis of Assisi, "From Riches to Rags," from 6:30-8 p.m.
