Pet blessing

In the tradition of St. Francis, Pastor Michael Fritz will include a pet blessing as part of the First Congregational United Church of Christ worship service on Sunday, Sept 1. The service begins at 10 a.m. but the blessing will take place toward the end of the service when the congregation will be asked to move outside to accommodate all types of animals.

The blessing will take place near the church’s south doors.

Equipping The Saints Series

House of Prayer Church in Alexandria will offer an eight-week e-course, “Equipping The Saints,” designed to help people help others more successfully.

The course runs Mondays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 16. The first course is titled “People Helping People” by Danny Silk.

While people are generally eager to help others, it doesn’t always work out as planned. These trainings are aimed at professional helpers as well as lay people, such as pastors, counselors, friends, life coaches and youth pastors.

Silk serves on the senior leadership team of Bethel Church in Redding, California and Jesus Culture in Sacramento, California and has written numerous books.

House of Prayer Church is at 3020 Rosewood Lane SE. To register, call 320-762-0828 or email hopci@hopci.com before Sept. 15. The class is open to anyone who wants to become more skilled at helping people.
