Mount Carmel concert features sacred classics
Baritone soloist Charles Johnson will perform sacred music classics at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Mount Carmel Chapel in Alexandria.
Johnson has performed on the operatic stage as well as night clubs and sanctuaries. He has also delved into the music business. He co-founded Limeliters, a Nashville talent agency. Since his teenage years, he has served as a choral director at churches in Chicago, Nashville, Colorado and California. He currently serves as executive director of the Majesty Foundation.
He will be accompanied by keyboardist Dale Niehaus.
Polka mass in Urbank
Sacred Heart Church will offer dinner and a bazaar on Sunday, Sept. 1, with a Polka Music Mass at 10:30 a.m. by Nathan's Old Time Band.
Chicken and ham will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and the band will also provide music in the afternoon. The day will feature games for all ages and free golf cart shuttle service will be available.
Urbank is 13 miles north of Garfield in Otter Tail County.
