EVANSVILLE — An Orlando, Florida-based theater troupe will retell Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" in a new way in Barrett and Evansville later this week, and also work with high school acting students.
RS&C Productions will present "Dickens by Candlelight" hosted by Prairie Wind Players in Barrett at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9 and Saturday, Dec. 10. It will also perform at the Railroad & 2nd Event Center in Evansville at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, hosted by the Evansville Arts Coalition.
Instead of acting out "The Christmas Carol Story," Dickens by Candlelight, adapted by Robin Olson, is a three-person, interactive show. Tea and biscuits are included with ticket purchase.
The group, well-known members of the Orlando arts community, performed in Evansville last year. The experience prompted an expanded visit back to the area.

In addition to performing publicly, the actors will be leading a workshop for high school actors from Brandon-Evansville and West Central Area schools on Thursday. Students from those schools and Morris Area Schools who are studying Dickens in class will also get to watch a special afternoon performance.
Tickets cost $15, which Prairie Wind Players said in a news release is significantly lower than the $45 price of a ticket in Orlando. A Lake Region Art Coalition grant has helped to lower the admission price, the release said.
