EVANSVILLE — The Evansville Art Center announced it will break up a lengthy winter with a special Open Mic session from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29.

All musicians, singers and music lovers are invited.

The art center says it offers an excellent sound system and a full keyboard Yamaha piano, and that its regular group of musicians welcomes new performers to their intimate setting.

This is a free event, but donations are gratefully accepted. Those attending may bring a treat to share, and the art center provides beverages. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.

Also, the art center says its Photo Club will meet 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, to plan for its annual March/April Photo Club exhibit in the Evansville Art Center Gallery. This exhibit is open to anyone who wishes to submit photographs.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
