Central Square in Glenwood said it has gotten a grant from the Lake Region Arts Council for new sound equipment and handicapped-accessible entries.
The council approved full funding of the theater's Spring Legacy Grant request for $6,850 for new doors that accommodate disabilities and are also energy efficient, Central Square said. For every request it receives, the council has the option to provide partial funding or no funding. It also fully funded Central Square's request for $10,590 for professional sound equipment to reduce technical production costs and create more opportunities for smaller, regional artists.
Central Square remains closed, as do other theaters, as Minnesota continues to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. Reopening dates have not yet been selected.
The funding for the grants came from a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
