Alexandria Lions bingo helps 3 nonprofits

Checks of $1,000 were given to Alexandria Special Olympics, Elder Network and the Outreach Food Shelf.

ALEXANDRIA — An Alexandria Lions bingo event raised $3,000 for local nonprofits.

The Alexandria Lions held its 10th annual bingo event on Thursday, Feb. 16. The sold-out event was held at the VFW in Alexandria and had a special attendance from the Lions 5M4 District Governor Rob Wiener and his wife, Jo.

Eighteen games of bingo were played, raising $3,000 which was donated in three $1,000 checks to the Alexandria Special Olympics, Elder Network and the Outreach Food Shelf.

“Everyone had a great time” said Darrell Staley, past president for the Alexandria Lions Club. "We give a special thanks to the VFW who helped make this evening possible."

The Alexandria Lions meet on the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. and the fourth Monday of each month at noon at the Broadway Ballroom in Alexandria. For more information, reach out to alexandrialionsclub@gmail.com .
