Thursday, June 24 was Demonstration Day judging for Douglas County 4-H members
Demonstrations are public presentations where youth develop self-confidence, express their ideas clearly, acquire subject matter knowledge and share that knowledge with others, thereby educating their audience.
Public presentations are an effective method for teaching concepts and problem solving procedures, according to 4-H leaders. A good presentation should lead to increased attentiveness, learning and performance, they added.
Demonstrations were given on topics of choice and included Trent Radil – Liberty Livewires 4-H Club of Carlos, Ethan Radil – Liberty Livewires 4-H Club of Carlos, Averie Mounsdon – Liberty Livewires 4-H Club of Osakis, and Lacie Lange – Liberty Livewires 4-H Club of Carlos.
The youth were evaluated on ability to communicate their information, proper use of visuals, correct use of introduction, body, and conclusion in their demonstration, and also the ability to answer questions.
Receiving Grand Champion for her demonstration was Lacie Lange, and Ethan Radil was awarded Reserve Champion. Demonstrators had the option of either “pre-recording” their demonstration or presenting live, in-person.
