Alexandria Area Indivisible invites residents to get outside and celebrate Earth Day on Thursday, April 22 near the Big Ole statue on North Broadway, starting at 5:30 p.m.
Speakers will include Dr. Steve Henry, president of the Douglas County Lake Association; Viola Riggle, president of the Prairie Lakes Audubon Chapter; and Jeanne Johnson with the Citizens Climate Lobby.
Organizers describe the event as a peaceful gathering that will focus on taking care of the planet, being good stewards of the Earth and protecting the planet for the future.
Pope Douglas Solid Waste Management will have a table set up for sharing recycling tips.
The Raaper's Food Truck will be on site at 5 p.m.
Attendees are asked to bring a chair, wear a mask and practice social distancing.
