Letters to the editor: We welcome letters of up to 300 words. Please include your name, address and daytime phone number for verification.

We publish virtually every local letter to the editor we receive, even if our editorial board disagrees with it, as long as it meets our basic guidelines, such as including a name, keeping it under 300 words and not making personal attacks against private individuals. Letters may be edited for grammar, clarity and conciseness. We generally don't publish more than one letter per writer per month.
