NOTICE OF AMENDMENT TO
THE DOUGLAS COUNTY
WATER SURFACE USE
ORDINANCE AS IT RELATES TO
LAKES LATOKA, LOBSTER,
AND IDA.
Notice is hereby given that on the 6th day of April 2021, the Douglas County Board of Commissioners amended the Water Surface Use Ordinance (No. 062309A). The amended rules are in effect on June 9, 2021 and thereafter. The amendment imposes no wake zoning within Latoka Narrows on Lake Latoka and "Boxcar Bay" on Lobster Lk, and to allows electric trolling motors on Johnson Bay of Lake Ida. The amendments read as follows:
Section 3. No person may operate a watercraft at any time exceeding slow - no wake speed in the following areas:
E. On Lake Latoka (21-0106) within the narrows between the North (21-010601) and South Bays (21-010602) as shown on the graphic in Exhibit A and as marked pursuant to law by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, located in of the Northwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter and the north half of the Southwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 27, Township 128 North, Range 38 West.
Section 4. SPEED AND OTHER RESTRICTIONS ON VARIOUS LAKES
B. No person may operate a motorboat any time watercraft propelled by a motor powered by anything other than electricity (electric trolling motor) within Johnson Bay of Lake Ida (21-0123) as marked pursuant to law by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office located in the Southeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter and the Northeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 22 of Township 129 North, Range 38 West (Ida township).
H. A bay (locally known as Boxcar Bay) of Lobster Lake (21-0144) located entirely in the South Half of the Northwest Quarter of Section 26, Township 128 North, Range 39 West (Moe Township).
i. No person may operate a watercraft at any time exceeding slow - no wake speeds within the bay or mouth of the bay, or in the channel providing access to the bay, as marked pursuant to law by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
Copies of the Douglas County Water Surface Use Ordinance (No. 062309A) are on file in the Auditor's Office and the Land & Resource Management Department Office.
