ORDINANCE NO. 828
EXTENSION OF DECLARATION
OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Alexandria, Minnesota (“Mayor”) declared an Emergency to exist in the City of Alexandria, Minnesota (“City”) effective 4:30 p.m. on March 17, 2020 upon signing a Mayoral Declaration of a Local Emergency; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 12.29, Subd. 1 the City Council of the City of Alexandria, Minnesota (“City Council”) on March 18, 2020 passed Emergency Ordinance No. 821 City Council Consent to Mayoral Declaration of a Local Emergency by which the City Council consented to the Declaration and extended it for 30 days; and
WHEREAS, pursuance to Minn. Stat 12.29, Subd. 1 the City Council on April 13, 2020 passed Emergency Ordinance No. 825 Extension of Declaration of a Local Emergency
WHEREAS, Section 3.02 of the City’s Home Rule Charter allows the City Council to pass emergency ordinances with immediate effect; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that an emergency in the City continues to exist as described in the Declaration; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that this emergency continues to threaten the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the community and the provision and delivery of City services; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Emergency continues to pose the risk of and may cause catastrophic loss of public health, safety, and welfare if not immediately addressed; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that traditional sources of relief may not be available to prevent or remedy any such injury or loss.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALEXANDRIA, MINNESOTA, DOES HEREBY ORDAIN:
1. The foregoing recitals and the
recitals in the Declaration are
incorporated herein by
reference.
2. The City Council hereby
extends the effective dates of
Emergency Ordinance No. 821
City Council Consent to
Mayoral Declaration of a Local
Emergency until June 30,
2020. Except as modified
hereby, all terms and conditons
of said ordinance shall remain
in full force and effect until then
unless earlier repealed by the
City Council.
3. This Ordinance shall take effect
immediately upon passage as
permitted by Home Rule
Charter § 3.02.
4. The City Clerk is authorized and
directed to file and to post
notice of this Ordinance and
any emergency regulations as
authorized and required by
State law and City Code.
