The Fire Pit Productions, started by Quincy Roers of Roers Family Bakery, will be hosting productions at its new location in the Indigo Plaza. After their parent company, Lakes Area Theater, sold their former location. The New site has its own private parking spaces and is entirely indoors and ground level, making accessibility easy.
“We looked at four other properties, and this one had the indoor space we needed to build a stage and audience section with enough height room to add lights,” said Roers.
The new location is expected to fit close to 100 audience members but will operate at 60% capacity for the time being. Masks will not be enforced, but deep cleaning between shows and social distancing sections will be provided.
Something new for Fire Pit Productions will be wine sales. With the new location, they obtained the proper licensing to sell wine.
“We will be selling wine that is made locally, like from Carlos Creek Winery,” said Roers.
Fire Pit’s first production will be an “old-timey” radio broadcast on July 9th. Then, on July 23rd, 24th, 29th, 30th, and 31st, they will perform “Run For Your Wife.” A comedy about a taxi driver getting away with having two wives. Fire Pit's production schedule continues all year round with plays, concerts, and radio productions.
“Instead of five plays a year, we will be performing all year long with up to 10 to 12 productions and not just plays but radio productions and concerts as well,” said Roers.
Currently, Quincy is looking to add new talent to his roster, from directors to actors.
“Whether you are experienced or not, we are willing to teach,” said Roers.
The current contract will keep Fire Pit at Plaza for at least the next three years.
The Indigo Plaza is located behind Apol’s Harley-Davidson at 4133 Iowa St in Alexandria. Reserve seating is available.
