Homeward Animal Shelter is trying to find people to adopt it's animals, as they struggle with capacity issues.

With so many animals, and so few applicants to adopt them, boarding costs are rising at the shelter. The shelter considers 100 animals to be maximum capacity. The shelter is currently caring for over 175 animals.

Cats have been especially challenging for the shelter, with the average cat staying for a month before being adopted.

Heather Klefstad, Homeward Animal Shelter's marketing director, just wants people to give their cats and dogs a chance.

"You can see the good in these animals. And you know, that right home is out for them, the right person is out there for them. And you just want them to come through the door," Heather says.

Adoption applications for animals from the shelter can be found on their website,
