Lights will be shining brightly in Osakis this Friday, Dec. 3.

The Osakis Area Chamber of Commerce’s second annual “Holiday Light Parade” will take place at 6 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to watch or enter. There is no entry fee. Prizes will be awarded for Most Creative, Best Christmas Theme and Brightest. To register, email chamberosakis@gmail.com by Tuesday, Nov. 30.

Participants are encouraged to light up their car, golf cart, tractor, lawn mower or anything else that moves. The parade will feature Santa and Mrs. Claus and sleigh rides will follow the event.

Children are encouraged to bring their letters to mail to Santa. A North Pole Mailbox will be set up.

The Osakis Area Chamber of Commerce Board came up with the festive idea last year because it wanted some sort of event that would meet the guidelines for the pandemic but still provide excitement for the holidays, according to Cory Abers, Chamber president.

“We just really want people to come out, enjoy the holidays and show their support for local businesses,” Abers said.

Osakis businesses will be offering special deals on Dec. 3 only. Chamber leaders encourage residents throughout the area to “shop local, shop late and eat local.”

The parade line up area will be on West Main Street and the parade will start on Second Avenue West. Visit the Osakis Chamber Facebook page for more information.
