Schjei Country will perform gospel and classic country music from 2-3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, at the Alexandria Senior Center.

The group is a local trio made up of Karen Schjei and her daughters Louise and Liz. Karen and Louise have been playing and singing together for many years, playing together in a country band called Decades Later. A couple years later, Schjei Country was formed, and Liz joined as the bass player and harmony singer.

Karen plays keyboard and sings harmony. Louise plays rhythm guitar and sings lead. Liz and Louise also play the fiddle.

The center, at 414 Hawthorne St., offers live music every Sunday and a dance once a month. The program is free and open to all ages.
