Father-daughter duo Chuck and Michelle Wencl will perform on saxophone and vocals from 2-3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Alexandria Senior Center.
Known as Sax Appeal, the two Alexandria natives have played music and performed for many years. Chuck says he picked up the saxophone in fifth grade and hasn’t put it down since. He played in a family band with his father and brother and studied music in the U.S. Navy and at the University of Minnesota-Morris.
Michelle has been singing professionally for more than 20 years and sings jazz, pop and country, performing with local groups from duos through a 17-piece big band. She says her most memorable moments have been performing at the Stardust Resort and Casino in Las Vegas and with her dad.
The center, at 414 Hawthorne St., offers live music every Sunday and a dance once a month. The program is free and open to all ages.
