North Door Jam Session will bring a wide variety of string instruments and music to the Alexandria Senior Center from 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13.
Born from an idea to gather musicians of varying skill levels, North Door Jam includes acoustic guitars, ukuleles, fiddles and banjos and performs country, folk, traditional, gospel, pop, rock, and blues music from the 1930s to today.
Over three years, the group has ranged from eight to 15 players and has gathered at the senior center every second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 6-8 p.m. One person plays their song of choice and the rest play along. The microphone then goes to the next person and the group plays again.
Beginner, intermediate and advanced players learn old and new song and make new friends, and new players and listeners are always welcome. For more information, call David at 715-553-2329. "And as always, use the North Door!" the center said in a news release.
The senior center offers live music every Sunday and a dance once a month. The program is free and open to all ages.
