The WoodPicks, a five-member band from Thief River Falls, will perform a free concert on the Douglas County Courthouse lawn in Alexandria on Thursday, Aug. 15.

Featured on an episode of Prairie Public Broadcasting’s “Prairie Musicians” show, the group uses harmonica, bass, guitar, fiddle and banjo to deliver gospel, bluegrass, country and Americana.

The free weekly concerts are put on by the coalition and start at 7 p.m. on the courthouse lawn. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

The concert series is sponsored by Anderson Funeral Home and Elden's Fresh Foods, and Thursday's sponsor is Bursch Travel. Proceeds from popcorn sales support a new playground for Miltona Science Magnet School.
