This week's band for the weekly summer music series on the Douglas County courthouse lawn will have a new twist: Chuck Wencl of the Red Willow Arts Coalition will be in the band.

When the previously-booked 70s Sunshine Band disbanded, it left a hole in the schedule. Wencl, who introduces the bands each Thursday night, plugged it by reuniting a band he was in during the '90s. They are dubbing it a "Throwback Thursday."

57 Chevy currently features Luis Moreno and Trevor Olson. On Thursday they will be joined by former members Bob Wilken, Paul Strand and Wencl. They plan on taking people down memory lane with renditions of songs from Elvis and Richie Valens to Freddie Fender and Johnny Cash.

The free weekly concerts are put on by the coalition and start at 7 p.m. on the courthouse lawn. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

The concert series is sponsored by Anderson Funeral Home and Elden's Fresh Foods, and Thursday's sponsors are Integrity Title and Alexandria Rotary Club. Proceeds from popcorn sales support a new playground for Miltona Science Magnet School.
