The 27th season of the Alexandria Festival of the Lakes opens Saturday, Aug. 3, with the first of five concerts that run through the next two weeks.
The festival is a professional, classical chamber music series that has brought in musicians from the St. Paul Chamber and Minnesota orchestras, as well as orchestras across the state and the nation, Canada and Europe.
This year's lineup features a special appearance by the Lux Quartet, a Twin-Cities based ensemble making its first appearance at the festival on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Bethesda Lutheran Church, 1204 N. Nokomis.
The other four concerts are at Alexandria United Methodist Church, 2210 6th Ave. E., and are on: Saturday, Aug. 3; Thursday, Aug. 8; Sunday, Aug. 11; and Saturday, Aug. 17. All of the concerts start at 7 p.m.
The festival is funded in part by a grant from the Lake Region Arts Council, through an appropriation from the Minnesota State Legislature.
