Two Minnesota authors will sign copies of their work at Cherry Street Books this week, beginning with author Julie Holmes, author of the mystery novel "Murder In Plane Sight" on Saturday, Aug. 24 from noon–1:30 p.m.

Holmes, a member of the Sisters In Crime writers group in the Twin Cities, has worked in aviation technology and support. Her book is centered around a female aircraft mechanic who discovers a frozen body in a plane she is inspecting. She must work to prove her innocence and uncover the key to exposing a deadly aviation conspiracy before she become the next casualty. It was published by Seattle-based Camel Press.

On Thursday, Aug. 29, nationally-known writer William Kent Krueger will stop by to sign copies of his new novel, "This Tender Land," from 4-5:30 p.m. His previous work includes "Ordinary Grace" and a 17-book mystery series featuring detective Cork O’Connor.

Krueger’s books are set in Minnesota and he has a large base of devoted readers. Those who see him at Cherry Street Books will get a jump on his fans elsewhere, since the bookstore is one of several independent booksellers with permission from Simon & Schuster to sell the book ahead of its official release date of Sept. 3. His visits to the local stores come before a national book tour starting Labor Day weekend.

Set in southern Minnesota in 1932, "This Tender Land" tells of the adventures and misadventures of four young kids who run away from an Indian School and make their way down the river in a canoe. Cherry Street owner Kathleen Pohlig suggests calling to reserve this book, as she anticipates strong demand. For more information, contact the bookstore at 320-763-9400.
