Although this year's Vikingland Band Festival was canceled back in April because of the pandemic, the event will march on through a virtual video showcase this Sunday, June 28.
The presentation will appear on the Vikingland Band Festival Facebook page at the usual parade time, 1:30 p.m. this Sunday.
Organizers invited bands to submit videos, photos and tributes to their seniors. They also invited committee members to extend video greetings, and assembled photos from the archives to make sure all bands in the 2020 lineup are represented.
Organizers say the result is "an uplifting, entertaining and fast-paced 16-minute video presentation."
Here are the bands that will be featured in the video: Alexandria (host band), Notteroy Skolekorps (Norway, honor unit), 728 Cadets, Albany, Champlin Park, Cotter, Dassel-Cokato, Fergus Falls, Henry Sibley, Hutchinson, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, Lakes International Language Academy, Mankato 77 Lancers, Milaca, Richfield, Sartell, Sauk Rapids-Rice, St. Michael-Albertville, and Waconia.
