Minnesota driving courses for 55+ go Zoom

The courses, for ages 55 and up, will be held online.

Drivers ages 55 and up will be able to Zoom to car insurance savings by taking driver discount courses from the Minnesota Highway Safety Center.

The center has substituted its in-person classes for distance education through the online meeting platform known as Zoom.

The class meets on the following days:

4-hour refresher courses:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 6 (Course No. 47237), 4:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 15 (Course No 47237), 1-5 p.m.

8-hour first time course:

  • Monday-Tuesday, October 19-20 (Course No. 45411), 5-9 p.m.

This class will save drivers age 55 and up 10 percent on auto insurance. The 8-hour course qualifies drivers for the discount, and a 4-hour refresher course completed every three years helps them maintain the discount.
A Minnesota Highway Safety & Research Center certified instructor will provide information about defensive-driving, changes in laws, vehicle technology, and traffic safety.

The cost of the 4-hour refresher course is $22 and the 8-hour course is $26. For more information or to register, visit or call 1-888-234-1294.
