The Alexandria Senior Center will hold its annual book sale, along with quilts and garage sale items, on Friday, Oct. 22 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The senior center says it has a great collection of more than 100 boxes of books, hardcover and paperback, and puzzles.

The Mission Quilters will once be selling quilts made by the group. Shirley Ross and the quilters have made 172 large quilts and dozens of smaller items, the senior center said. Money from the sales will be used to purchase quilt batting for quilts being given to the Jingle Bells Foundation and the local United Way.

The senior center will also offer many donated items that have been saved for a garage sale. "So this is an opportunity to clear some of the center's limited storage areas and make these treasures available at this combined book and garage sale," said leaders at the center.

The Alexandria Senior Center's regular large garage sale is being planned for next spring. Due to limited space, the center is not seeking additional garage sale items.
