United Way of Douglas and Pope Counties held its 6th annual Trap Tournament on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at the Alexandria Shooting Park.

Seventeen teams participated in a night of comradery and fun to raise dollars to support health, education and financial stability in Douglas and Pope counties. Each participant shot two rounds of 25 clays, enjoyed a brat dinner and participated in games and raffle.

Awards were given for first through third place teams along with individual winners from each category: novice, Intermediate and experienced. The top score of the day received the High Gun Award. Here are the results:

  • Novice Skill Level Winner: Joe Scegura - Score 36

  • High Gun Award: Mark Nohre

Through this fundraiser, the United Way was able to raise more than $9,300 to put back into supporting the needs of the community.

These event sponsors are important because their support allows the United Way to offset the expenses of the tournament and capture the most dollars, according to United Way leaders.
