Someplace Safe and United Communities Advocating Non-Violence is inviting community members to take part in two events aimed at domestic violence awareness.

The first event is the 15th annual Taking Steps Against Domestic Violence Walk, which is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 19.

The walk will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria. The event is free, and includes a speaker, food and a T-shirt.

The second event is the 21st annual Domestic Abuse Awareness luncheon. The luncheon is planned for Wednesday, Oct. 20, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center. This year's speaker is Pheng Thao, statewide coordinator for MN Men and Masculine Folks Network. He will be speaking on "Practicing healthy masculinity and manhood."

Tickets can be purchased at Glenwood State Bank in Alexandria.
