Big doings will take place in the small town of Kensington all weekend long, June 18-20, during Kensington Rune Stone Days.
From a variety of food to garage sales, ax throwing, craft and vendor show, sporting events, street dances, a classic car show, fireworks, parade and more, Kensington is the place to be this weekend.
On Friday, June 18, there will be citywide garage sales, starting at 8 a.m. Other events include displays by the Kensington Area Heritage Society Museum and Rune Stone Research Center (that will also be offered on Saturday and Sunday); a pulled pork meal from the Kensington Commercial Club and Working Wonders 4-H Club; ax throwing; Family Night on Main Street; inflatables; concessions; glow sticks; wristband special discounts; a baseball game; Little Miss Runestone Pageant; street dance featuring Outlaw DJ and a fireworks display.
Saturday's events begin with the Kensington Lions pancake breakfast and a bake sale. Other activities include a co-ed softball tournament; citywide garage sale; three-person golf tournament; a Kid Zone; Kids bean bag tournament; build your own bluebird house; flower planting; make your own slime; craft and vendor show; adult bean bag tournament; live music at the Kensington Community Center; and a street dance featuring Outlaw DJ.
The fun continues on Sunday with a classic car show from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Other festivities include a Father's Day luncheon; community church service; antique tractor pull; a grand parade at 1:30 p.m.; pie and ice cream social; and a Kensington Norseman baseball game.
