As shoppers browsed among craft booths, explored potential gift ideas and sipped on hot coffee and cider, the song "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" played over the speaker system at Broadway Ballroom in Alexandria Saturday, Nov. 2.

The event was the Alexandria Kiwanis Arts and Crafts Bazaar, a kind of unofficial start to the holiday craft season leading up to this week's 35th annual Holiday Arts and Crafters Tour, Nov. 7-9.

Proceeds from the Kiwanis event will help fund the new playground at Lake Brophy County Park. The bazaar included 31 vendors, cookie decorating, a craft station and a holiday movie.

Kiwanis members were pleased with the turnout; more than 120 people showed up by 11:30 a.m.
