Because of expected rainy, stormy, windy weather this Saturday, October 5, Lake Carlos State Park is cancelling its annual Fall Festival.
It's the first time the park has cancelled the event since it was started 10 years ago.
"We want to be respectful of everyone’s time, materials and skills," said Ben Eckhoff, area naturalist at the park. "The Fall Festival is supposed to be a fun, hands-on and educational event and we do not feel that is possible with the weather and the limited indoor presentation space at Lakeview."
The park's Visitor Center will still be open tomorrow, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. People are invited to come explore, make a fall craft, dip a beeswax candle, or make some butter.
Next year's Fall Festival is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
