The Homecoming football game and dance Friday night may have been the main events, but the pre-game festivities also drew a crowd.

People flocked to both sides of the street on Broadway – and other locations along the route – for the 2019 Alexandria Area High School Homecoming parade Friday afternoon.

The parade started at the Douglas County Fairgrounds and finished at Alexandria Area Technical College. It drew close to 50 entries and an impressive turnout on a chilly, cloudy afternoon.

Following the parade, a tailgate party was held inside the gates adjacent to the stands in advance of Friday night's Homecoming football game, with the 3-1 Cardinals taking on 1-3 Brainerd. The tailgate party featured hamburgers, bratwurst and hot dogs.
