What a difference a year makes.

The 2018 Grape Stomp Festival, which packs them in every year at Carlos Creek Winery, was a hot one, with temperatures reaching the 90s.

This year's version opened its three-day run Friday with temperatures mostly in the 50s and winds making it feel cooler. But at least the rains that fell much of the week stopped in time for the grounds to dry out.

However, Saturday featured sun and 70s, and a large crowd that flocked to Alexandria from all over seemed to approve. Sunday looks even better, with 80s on tap.

Also on the Sunday schedule are a Minnesota Viking fan costume contest, as well as the best themed team costume contest that is held each day. Vikings cheerleaders are expected to be on hand for the Packers-Vikings game, and live music is also part of the Sunday schedule.
