In remembrance of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that killed 2,996 people, the lawn of the 3M plant in Alexandria will be draped with United States flags – one for every person who died in the attacks.

The event will take place the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 11 in Alexandria, where it has been held since 2014.

The flags will be put up on the 3M property adjacent to Highway 29 on Tuesday night, and removed the following night.

The Douglas County Honor Guard will participate in the ceremony, as will the Alexandria Fire Department. Presentations of the color guard will take place at 8:55 and 9:25
