It's time for the Alexandria community to come together and celebrate.
Community Night Out will take place Tuesday, Aug. 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. at City Park. The Alexandria Police Department and the City of Alexandria will join forces with thousands of communities nationwide in a celebration of community togetherness .
Alexandria's Community Night Out carries the theme, "Growing Stronger by Building Strong Community Partnerships."
The police department invites everyone to attend an evening of special events, allowing community members to join in the fun and have the chance to get to know police officers and city leaders.
Organizers say the goal is to show the community what the City of Alexandria has to offer its citizens and bring the community closer together. There will be a picnic meal to enjoy along with activities and several city departments and local organizations sharing what they offer to the community.

Community Night Out activities include:
Alexandria Police Department – patrol officers, bike patrol, SWAT team gear, fatal vision goggles demonstration, door prizes to be given away during the event and at the end. Balloon shapes for children.
Alexandria Fire Department – fire truck and inflatable children’s bouncer, “Fire Hopper.”
ALP Utilities – equipment on display and safety handouts.
Alexandria Streets and Parks Departments – large equipment displays.
Municipal liquor stores, “Downtown Liquor and Plaza Liquor” – root beer.
Alexandria Airport – airplane on display.
Eagles Club – hot dogs.
