Alexandria VFW offers flag disposal ceremony

They will take American flags no longer in good condition.

We are part of The Trust Project.

Those whose American flags are tattered, worn, or otherwise in poor shape can bring them to the Alexandria VFW parking lot for proper disposal at 1 p.m. Monday, June 14.

Hosted by the American Legion Post 87, Elks Lodge 1685, VFW Post 936, VVA Chapter 235, and Marine Corps League Detachment 1409, the ceremony follows Public Law 829 and Flag Code 176(K) on disposal of unserviceable flags.

Anyone who wishes to bring an unserviceable flag for donation is welcome to attend.

The group also takes donations of serviceable flags that are no longer needed.
