Drivers age 55 and up can brush up on their skills in June when the Minnesota Highway Safety Center offers four-hour and eight-hour driver improvement refresher courses at the Alexandria Senior Center, 414 Hawthorne St.
The four-hour courses are:
- Monday, June 7, 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Alexandria Senior Center, 414 Hawthorne St.
Tuesday, June 15, 6-10 p.m. at the Alexandria Senior Center.
The eight-hour course will take place over two days, Friday-Saturday, June 18-19, from 6-10 p.m.
Courses are also available online at www.driverdiscountprogram.com.
Taking the eight-hour class will save participants up to 10% on auto insurance, according to Minnesota law.
To maintain the discount, drivers must complete a four-hour refresher every three years. A Minnesota Highway Safety & Research Center certified instructor will provide updates on defensive-driving tips, changes in laws, vehicle technology, and traffic safety. The cost of the four-hour refresher course is $24 and the eight-hour course is $28.
