Fraye and Jean Ranstrom moved to Nokomis Street in Alexandria in August 2012.
Just recently, Fraye found an interesting photo postcard tacked to the wall in the garage.
The front of the card shows a bar scene and says Moctezuma Bar, H Matamoros TAM.
The handwritten note on the back, addressed to a Mr. Dave Boyre, Norcross, Minnesota, USA, reads as follows:
We are over the line so can do as they are doing on other side of card. Fine trip.
Marie and Fred
The card is dated February 4, 1924, which was right during the Prohibition Era. A nationwide constitutional ban was placed on the sale, production, importation and transportation of alcoholic beverages from 1920 to 1933.
“We just never noticed it before,” Jean said of the card. “It was tacked up in the garage; I guess we had stuff stored up against it. It’s interesting.”
