The Echo Press welcomed two new employees to its staff recently.

Thalen Zimmerman of Alexandria joined the editorial team when he was hired as an intern reporter for the summer. His internship was made possible through the News Media Institute and the Minnesota Newspaper Association.

Zimmerman graduated in May from Bemidji State University with a bachelor of science degree in mass communications.

“Thalen has the quality of being very approachable and I know he will draw out good stories from our communities,” said Jeff Beach, editorial director. “It's great having a young professional who knows the area but brings new energy to our staff.”

Prior to going into the mass communication field, Zimmerman worked in the food industry and in healthcare.

In his spare time, Zimmerman likes to spend time with his wife, Jade, traveling, hiking and playing with their dog, Dude, an all-white German shepherd. He also loves to take photographs and videos.

Scott Teaser of Alexandria was hired as a multi media sales rep for the Echo’s print and digital products.

“I am very excited to welcome Scott to our team,” said Diann Drew, Echo Press publisher. “Scott has been very involved in the community and his knowledge of the area and commitment to customer service will be a great asset to the Echo Press and our customers.”

He has lived in the Alexandria lakes area for more than two decades and likes to be involved in the community. Teaser is the president of Eagles Club Aerie 3063, an Alexandria School District 206 Community Education Advisory Council member and an Alexandria Sertoma Board member.

He previously worked in the packaging industry at both Massman and Brenton Engineering.

In his free time, Teaser enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, Heather Michels, playing with their puppy, Wesley, as well as going out to eat and spending time with their friends and family.

Celeste Edenloff is the special projects editor and a reporter for the Alexandria Echo Press. She has lived in the Alexandria Lakes Area since 1997. She first worked for the Echo Press as a reporter from 1999 to 2011, and returned in 2016 to once again report on the community she calls home.
